SHEENA AND THE ROKKETS

My latest studio artwork is of the Japanese rock band Sheena and the Rokkets featuring guitarist Makoto Ayukawa (鮎川誠).

Their music is a very unique mix of American clasic rock and Japanese vocal stylings.


I wanted to make a drawing to reflect the uniqueness of their preformance and live aspect.

Birthday

It was my birthday on the 22nd, my wife and I went out to for a movie and dinner to celebrate. We went to the Dynaciy shopping center in Odawara. The movie we saw was Hell Boy 2, The Golden Army. It was very entertaining. Later we had supper at an Italian restraunt (にんにく屋）.

The very next day at work, I drew a little boy who just had his birthday on the 23rd. He wanted to be drawn with a sea turtle. As you can see, we had a lot of fun playing with Doraemon and Dorami!

Jerry's Holiday

Here are some of the fun things I got to do during my Christmas and New Year Holiday.

First, at the Enoshima Aquarium I got to see Santa and his reindeer...


On January 2nd I saw the runners from the Hakone Ekiden race as it passed through Chigasaki. The picture is very small, so you'll have to get out your magnifying glass to see the runner....

After watching the race I went to the beach to take my picture with Mount Fuji...

Later that evening I had fun drawing pictures with my niece...

Something new for the kids! 絵本を作りました！

Exciting caricatures with sea creatures aren't the only thing we have for kids at the Caricature Japan booth. I would like to introduce my new book called Friends of the Sea. While children are having their drawing made, they can be entertained by reading this book full of cute sea creature drawings. This book is meant for kids of all ages and is educational as well as entertaining.

最近、『うみのなかまたち』というファイルタイプの絵本を、新江ノ島水族館のブースに用意しました。似顔絵が描かれるのを待っているお子様たちに、少しでも楽しい時間を過ごしていただければ、という思いから作ったものです。かわいい海の仲間たちの絵を見ながら、ちょっとばかりお勉強もできてしまうという優れ物です。

Each page features a sea creature in picture form. It also includes the animal's name in both Japanese and English.

それぞれのページには、海の生物の絵が描いてあります。また、その生物の名前を、英語と日本語の両方で添えてあります。

Barack Obama

Recently I made a studio drawing of Barack Obama. I first did a portrait style sketch to study his features.

For the caricature I combined a marker and pastel drawing with computer imagery to show the different times of his life.
